The free GPX editor & route planner built for runners
Fix a messy GPS track, cut points to fit your Garmin, or re-upload an edited run to Strava as a new activity — all without your files ever leaving your device.
Edit your GPX file online
Drag a file anywhere onto the editor, or .
Nothing is uploaded — editing happens in your browser. Reads .gpx, .tcx, .fit, .kml and .kmz.
Fix GPS errors
Your watch drifted or teleported? Remove spikes that jump away and snap back.
Reduce points
Fewer points = a smaller file that fits your device's course limit. Re-run anytime — it always starts from your full track, so you can go up or down.
Advanced: spacing & simplify
Edit points
Elevation
This file has no elevation data.
Opt-in: sends only the coordinates of points needing elevation to the terrain provider. Your file is not uploaded.
Re-upload as new
Strava & Garmin reject re-uploads as duplicates. Shift the time or randomize the file ID so it uploads as new.
Plan a route
Click the map to drop points. Below zoom 12 the first click zooms in so you can place accurately.
Export format

Popular GPX tools
Jump straight to the task you need — each is the full editor with a focused guide.
Reduce the number of points in a GPX file
Cut a dense GPX down to an exact point count or an even spacing so it fits your device’s course limit — while keeping the shape of the route.
Merge GPX files
Combine several GPX files into one — append them as separate tracks, or join a split activity end to end so it reads as one continuous run or ride.
Fix GPS errors and clean a track
Your watch drifted, jumped, or teleported? Remove the spikes that inflate your distance and clean the track back to reality.
Crop and trim a GPX track
Remove the parts you don’t want — the drive to the start, a forgotten stop at the end, or anything outside a box you draw on the map.
Plan a route and create a GPX
Build a route from scratch on the map, then download it as a GPX for your watch or bike computer.
Convert FIT to GPX
Turn a FIT file from a Garmin, Wahoo or Coros device into a GPX — with heart rate and cadence preserved.
GPX elevation profile, smoothing and fill
See your route’s elevation profile, smooth out barometric noise that inflates the climb, or add elevation to a route that has none.
Change the date and time of a GPX file
Set a new start time, shift every timestamp by an offset, or clear times entirely — so a re-uploaded activity isn’t rejected as a duplicate.
Frequently asked questions
Is this GPX editor really free?
Yes. Every feature is free to use, with no sign-up and no file limits. The site is supported by unobtrusive ads placed around the editor.
Are my GPX files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are opened and edited entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. Nothing is ever sent to a server, so your routes and location data stay private on your device.
How do I reduce the number of points in a GPX file for my Garmin?
Open your file, choose a device preset or type a target number of points under “Reduce points”, and click Reduce. The editor keeps the shape of your route while cutting the point count so it fits your device’s course limit.
Why does Strava say my edited activity is a duplicate?
Strava and Garmin Connect de-duplicate uploads by the activity’s start time. Use the “Make it a new activity” tools to shift the start time or randomize the file ID, and the edited file will upload as a brand-new activity.
What can I edit in a GPX file here?
You can drag, add, delete and rename individual track points, change coordinates and elevation, reduce or simplify the whole track, shift timestamps, and rename the activity — then download a clean GPX 1.1 file.
