Merge GPX files

Combine several GPX files into one — append them as separate tracks, or join a split activity end to end so it reads as one continuous run or ride.

Drag a file anywhere onto the editor, or . Nothing is uploaded — editing happens in your browser. Reads .gpx, .tcx, .fit, .kml and .kmz.

No file loaded — open a GPX to begin.

When you need to merge GPX files

A dead battery mid-ride leaves you with two files. A multi-day tour exports one file per day. An out-and-back gets recorded as two activities. Merging stitches them into a single GPX you can upload or keep as one route.

Append vs. join

Choose Add / merge, then decide: appending keeps each file as its own track inside one GPX (good for a route with distinct legs), while joining concatenates everything into one continuous track and shifts the timestamps so each file starts after the previous one ends — ideal for a paused activity you want Strava to read as a single effort.

How to merge gpx files

  1. Open your first GPX (or TCX/FIT) file.
  2. Click “Add / merge another file” and pick the others.
  3. When prompted, choose Join (one continuous activity) or keep them as separate tracks.
  4. Reduce points or tidy the track if needed, then Download GPX.

FAQ

Can I merge more than two files?

Yes — select as many as you like when adding. In join mode they are ordered by start time and chained together.

Will merging keep my heart rate and cadence?

Yes. Per-point heart rate and cadence are preserved through the merge and the GPX export.
