Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
The short version: your GPX files never leave your device. All editing happens locally in your web browser. We do not receive, store, or have any access to your routes, tracks, or location data.
Who we are
This site is operated by the GPX Toolkit project ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, contact us at nszczepanek@op.pl. For the purposes of the GDPR, we are the data controller for the limited processing described below.
Your GPX files
When you open a GPX file, it is read and processed entirely by JavaScript running in your browser. The file is never uploaded to our servers or any third party. When you download an edited file, it is generated on your device. Closing or refreshing the page discards it from memory.
Map tiles
The background map is served by our tile provider (MapTiler). To draw the map, your browser requests map images directly from them; this necessarily reveals your IP address and the map area you are viewing to that provider, subject to their own privacy policy. It does not send them your GPX file or your track.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies, does not store personal identifiers, and does not track you across other sites. This is done on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate traffic.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising served by Google (AdSense). In regions that require it (the EEA, UK and Switzerland), we show a Google-certified consent message before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, and ads run in a non-personalized, consentless mode until you agree. Advertising cookies are set only with your consent (the legal basis is consent). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences (such as your consent choice). Advertising providers may set their own cookies subject to your consent, as described above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because we do not collect personal data about you directly, there is little for us to hold; for advertising cookies, refer to the provider's policy. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. If you are in California, we do not "sell" or "share" your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
