How to create a running route (and export GPX)

Want a specific distance, a loop from your door, or an out-and-back on a favourite path? You can plan it on a map and export a GPX for your watch — no account, nothing uploaded.

Plan it in the browser

  1. Open the route planner and click Plan a new route.
  2. Click along your intended path to drop points; the distance updates as you go.
  3. Use Out & back to return the same way, or Close loop to head home.
  4. Optionally fill elevation from terrain to see the climb.
  5. Download GPX — as a track, or a route for turn-by-turn devices.

Tips for an accurate distance

  • Place points at every corner so the straight lines follow the path closely.
  • Drag a point afterwards to nudge the line onto the trail.
  • Heading to a device with a point limit? Reduce points before exporting.
